Adult Language Training (ALT) Programme
Starting Date: March 2019
End Date: May 2021
As a result of the research conducted on the target groups within the scope of the KIZILAYKART Platform, it was determined that the language barrier is the biggest obstacle for people under International Protection / Temporary Protection status in Türkiye to access employment and education opportunities and social cohesion.
In this framework, the Turkish language training programme for Syrians under Temporary Protection in Türkiye was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and the UN Development Programme (UNDP). Held in 10 provinces (Adana, Bursa, Gaziantep, Hatay, İstanbul, İzmir, İzmir, Kilis, Konya, Mersin, Şanlıurfa), the Adult Language Training (ALT) Programme
provided cash assistance through KIZILAYKART in return for their participation. Trainees were paid 6.42 TL per hour for their participation in the Programme (three days a week, three hours each). The Programme was funded by the EU Trust Fund for Response to the Syria Crisis (EUTF). The Programme aimed to reach 52,000 Syrians.
